INGREDIENTS

1 lb. thinly sliced beef (such as sirloin or ribeye)
2 large onions, sliced
4 cups cooked short-grain Japanese rice
4 tbsp. vegetable oil
4 tbsp. soy sauce
4 tbsp. mirin (sweet rice wine)
2 tbsp. sake (Japanese rice wine)
2 tbsp. sugar
1 cup water
4 green onions, thinly sliced
4 eggs (optional)
4 sheets of nori (dried seaweed), cut into thin strips (optional)


DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they become translucent and start to soften, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the skillet and stir-fry until it's no longer pink, about 3-4 minutes.
